Application of an enzymatic cascade reaction for the synthesis of the emeraldine salt form of polyaniline

Abstract The synthesis of the emeraldine salt form polyaniline (PANI-ES) from aniline with Aspergillus sp. glucose oxidase (GOD), d -glucose, dissolved O 2 , and horseradish peroxidase isoenzyme C (HRPC) in presence large unilamellar vesicles AOT (sodium bis-(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate) as templates at pH = 4.3 T ~ 25 °C was investigated a systematic way. In this cascade reaction mixture, oxidation is catalyzed by HRPC H that formed situ byproduct GOD-catalyzed -glucose . Under elaborated experimental conditions which we considered ideal, formation PANI-ES products evident, judged UV/Vis/NIR EPR measurements. Comparison made reference reaction, run under similar added instead GOD -glucose. Although found to be superior, can still obtained high conversion (> 90%) within 24 h stable dark green PANI-ES/AOT vesicle dispersion. Our results show does not prevent inactivation known occur reaction. Moreover, used inactivated well polymerization intermediates.
